USS Columbia (SSBN-826) will be a future United States Navy ballistic missile submarine, the lead boat of the Columbia -class submarine and the first vessel of the Navy to be named for the District of Columbia. The Navy wants to procure the first Columbia-class boat in FY2021. It is planned that the series will begin construction sometime in 2021 and the first boat will enter service in the following decade, possible in 2031.
